Where should I use it?
TYCOON “LIFE SAVER” electrical safety mats should be used wherever there is a risk of electric shock, usually such places as:-
- In front of switchboards rooms
- In front of machine control gear
- In ac plant rooms
- In lift control gear rooms
- In electric sub stations
- In transformers rooms
- In front of electrical panels
- In X- ray plant rooms
- In generator rooms
- In LT/HT labs
- Around bus bars
- As portable protection for site engineers working on live equipment
How do I use it?
TYCOON “LIFE SAVER” electrical Insulating mats manufacturer, safety mats should be placed anywhere personnel could be standing in front of the equipment. The persons at risk should stand on the mat in order to protect them from a direct shock through their body via their feet to the ground.
Which one should I choose?
The grade of mat you should choose depends on the level of protection you require.
Tycoon Life Saver “3300 Volt protection”.
If your switchgear is single phase (415V-3300V) we suggest you a useful 90% safety margin by specifying 3300 volt protection.
This grade of matting will protect personnel up to its maximum working voltage of 3300 volts and the mats are 100% electronically tested to 30000 volts (Di-Electric Strength) in accordance with the test methods laid down by IS:2584.
Tycoon Life Saver “11000 Volt protection”.
If your switchgear is three phase (11000 volts) we suggest you a useful 90% safety margin by specifying 11000 volt protection.
This grade of matting will protect personnel up to a maximum working voltage of 11000 Volts and is 100% electronically tested to 45000 volts (Di -Electric Strength) in accordance with the test methods laid down by IS:2584.

What is IS: 15652:06?
IS:15652 is Indian Standard Specification for rubber insulating mats for electrical purposes. It deals with insulating mats made of elastomer (that includes rubbers, latex and elastomeric compounds that may be natural or synthetic or a mixture or a combination of both) for use as floor covering for the protection of workers on ac and dc installations with the system voltages up to 33kV ac and 240 V dc. As standard defines:-
- Composition
- Construction
- Thickness, Length and Width
- Workmanship and finish
- Performance requirements
- Embossed marking with TSI mark, Brand name & CM/L No. on each meter.
Key requirements of the standard stipulate that
- 100% of the mat is tested at Di -Electric strength for 1 minute with the leakage current.
- The mat is clearly marked with the class, test standard, date and identification mark of the manufacturer.
- The mat dimensions always meet the specification.
- The rubber compound meets the physical property requirements.
You can purchase a copy of IS: 15652:06 from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
What sizes is it available in Tycoon Life Saver?
The working voltage and preference for specification will dictate the thickness of mat you require.
Width
- TYCOON “LIFE SAVER” standard width is 1000 mm.
Be aware that IS: 15652 stipulates that; “Mats shall have a minimum width of 1000 mm to accord with the regulations concerning the minimum width of a working platform or passage way associated with a switchboard on which there are exposed live conductors (for voltages up to 33000 V).
Length
- TYCOON “LIFE SAVER”standard length of electrical matting are 2000 mm, 5000mm, 10000mm or in multiples.
Cut lengths: – We can cut lengths of electrical safety mat to your required size if you want to buy less than 2000 mm. i.e. the smallest Tycoon “Life Saver” Insulating mats manufacturer, electrical safety mat you should consider using should be not less than 1000 mm x 1000 mm as per IS: 15652 clause 11.1.3
NOTE: It is highly recommended that the mat be replaced in a stipulated time for optimum performance.
